Stingrays – That’s a wrap to our 2026 Season
Wow, what an incredible season we’ve had! Personal bests, wins a plenty and so many new friends and memories made.
As this season comes to a close, we want to thank the coaching staff who made it all happen and without whom we would not have a team.
Head Coach Lilly – great first season as our head coach, we know you had your hands full with a longer than normal season and more responsibility for meet preparation than your predecessors, you handled it well and your passion for our team always shines through.
Asst Coaches - Spencer, Paul, Berkleigh, Jackson, Austin, Reid, Keily, Anna and Hugh – we appreciate your time and commitment to the team throughout the season, making sure that we had safe and successful practices and meets. You also did double-duty as a member of the team, role modeling how to put your best effort forward at all times.
Junior Coaches – Seth, Daniel, Zayden, Maddy and Ethan – your flexibility and care is appreciated by all of us and we look forward to seasons ahead.
Our 90 swimmers this season collectively showed courage (first swim meets and PBs) and personal reflection (final meets and honors for our seniors), making it a fantastic celebration at the EOS party! If you missed it, we missed you! Your paper plate award and final ribbons are awaiting you – grab a coach, Naomi or myself when you see us at the pool and we will help you get it.

We also want to thank our parent volunteers, community members and our HCSRC Board for continuing to keep the legacy of Hunters Creek Stingrays alive and well. We are one of only four remaining founding teams for the Herndon Swim League, started 43 years ago, run solely on volunteer representation from our parent community. As you may have heard at the All-League meet, our commissioner, Bill Liedtke, received a State of VA Joint Senate Commendation for the impact our league has had on thousands of children in the Town of Herndon. We should all be very proud of the incredible league we are a part of.
A few final things:
We will be planning for all of our Stingrays to get their end of season gifts (Stingrays Swim Bag Tags) before the pool closes, we may also have a few fundraising opportunities to get us started for next year. More info to come....

We would love someone who has passion for the team, time to commit and patience to spare. We need someone to step into the Lead Team Rep role, I have been in role for 7 years and welcome passing the baton. My commitment is not to walk away, we can work together to get you up and running, I will still serve on the board and certainly support the next leader of this incredible team – so give me a ring if you are willing to consider it and want to learn more.
