Important Stingray Season information

The first week of the Stingrays Fever in the water has been excellent!

A pleasure to meet so many new families and welcome back many more. Our parents meeting took place earlier this week but most information will be covered in this email and is available on our website: https://hcstingrays.swimtopia.com

Practices:

  • Evening practices will continue through 6/17
  • Morning practices will begin 6/18
    • 8-8:30am for 8 and unders
    • 8:30-9:15am for 9-12yr olds
    • 9:15-10am for 13-18yr olds
  • First morning practice will include donuts (paid for by the team) and assorted finger fruits. Please sign up to bring cut fruit on our team site - select the event on 6/18 (Morning Practices Begin)

Time Trials:

  • Time trials are conducted on practice days, to get a starting time for meet entries. Please make sure you child attends practice on 6/10 & 6/11, we will get their beginning times for seeding at our first meet on 6/20. In the event of inclement weather (forecast is iffy) we will make them up on 6/15 & 6/16. If your swimmer does not have a time from trials, they will be entered into the first meet with a N/T (no time) and that will likely have them in a later/slower heat.

RSVP for Meets and Events:

  • Leverage our Swimtopia site or app to RSVP yes or no for your swimmer. If you select yes, please indicate which strokes they would like to swim. They can swim up to 4 individual events and two relays. If your child will not be available at the end of the meet for relays, please indicate “no relays” when you RSVP

Parent Volunteers:

  • When you RSVP yes for a meet, you will be asked to sign up for a volunteer shift for half of the meet. It is required that you volunteer if your kiddo is swimming. We are a fully volunteer run program, if you have a favorite spot (like timing or running) grab it early!

Swimsuits:

  • We have a new team suit this year, we will be selling 2-3 times a week on the pool deck at practices. Your child must be DRY to try on a suit. We return those that we don’t sell and if they have been exposed to wet and chlorine, we can’t return. It is not required to have a team suit - but it is fun! Red and/or black suits are fine.

Swimtopia App & Instagram:

  • Download the app and ensure your push notification are on. We will use the app’s alerting system to notify of impacted/cancelled practices due to inclement weather. It will also notify you of your swimmers time after their events at our meets.
  • Follow us on Instagram for additional communications and notices - we also feature special posts on our graduating seniors, our coaches and our meets. @hc_stingrays

As we enter our 2nd week of practices, we appreciate the space you are giving the kids and coaches in the water, we’ve had a great time getting to know them!
